I am preparing my side of a debate for this issue for Speech & Debate tomorrow. I am for open medical records, so we don't have a repeat of VA Tech(as far as I know, that's something that was wrong there.)

But, I need help... I can't find much on it and I have other HW so can you all please give me your opinions? Even if you're for closed records, give me a reason why and I'll try to find evidence to counter it. I seriously need help tho!

Thanks guys.

i think that if the records are about us they should be open but anything that has to do with a legal system should be taken out and placed back in when you have read themyou are allowed to see your social services notes when you are 18 but the legal parts are taken out before you see them so why not a drs notes, you know why you attended the clinic any way so its not gonna through up some big mystery like social services files could contain.

Man I don't think there's much of an argument to be made for open medical records.

Good luck. That's not much of a debate IMO

Do you mean they should be open to the public? I have to say I strongly disagree with that.

too late now

but a plus of opening medical records to the patient is that any mistakes can be rectified and there "are" mistakes.

the thing that goes against it is, in the old days doctors would write information which they were under the impression would never be duvildged to anyone. So reading back a lot of people can take great offence to what has been said about them. Particularly if its true
