My brother is thinking of doing a second Degree..

He will finish his masters in history this year and he has 2 choices.. the Uni he goes to wants him to stay on and do another degree, or he can do a PHd.

Ive got a degree in aircraft engineering and i can tell you thats enough for me, alothough open uni has crossed my mind for business and finance degree..

Would do you think about these people that stay in education all there lives??

Personally i found it interesting but i had to make money... I had to leave and start a life...

I see education as a means to an end, i see it as a way to rise out of the poverty that manual employment places us in.

It would be good to stay in the comfort of the education system, i'm not saying its easy but taking what you have learned into the real world and making it work for you in this s***ty day and age can be a damn site harder.

I know people who have worked their arses off for degrees and when they take it out into the real world the competiton is so tough and the places so limited they end up doing something so far removed from what the studied it was almost a waste of their time studying it.

Well, he could always get a career as a college professor, they make loads of money! I don't know many other careers where a PhD in history would come in handy.
