Jeans are also cut and sewn with certain style mostly the yoke in the back. and the flat felled (double sewn) seems in the side leg. They usually have the same type of pockets, but thats sometimes optional, like in western cut for women, usually leave out the back pockets.
Jeans also exclusively denim like the poster said above, but not all denim pants are necessarily jeans.
Most jeans also have rivets (metal things) reinforcing pockets and many brands like Levi uses special buttons for the fly that usually aren't available any where else.
Pants is pretty much the catch all name for any type of clothing for the lower body that has separate coverings for both legs. (as opposed to a skirt). Historically for some reason "pants" were the last type of clothing to be "invented". It took people a while to figure out the covering the two legs and crotch area to master in fabric.
