Oh yeah and on a similar note, my 8th grade math teacher would throw stuff at you to get your attention. If you were off in la-la land, next thing you know, your leg gets hit with a chalkboard eraser or a piece of chalk.

Yes, this same math teacher would smack the desk with a yard stick. He broke one once.

I don't think any of my teachers ever tried that to get my attention, I was a lost cause

But it's kinda scary how some people can't tell the difference between an actual emergency, and a situation where they just get caught off guard or startled by something.
I mean, if I hear something in the bushes at night, should I call 911 just because it might be a killer waiting to attack me? Erm....no

We had a teacher like that. There were lockers at the back of the rooms. If he caught someone not paying attention, he would whip chalk/chalk-pens and chalk board erasers at the lockers right by the certain students.

No one ever freaked out and called the cops on him. Students just learned to pay attention in class.

On a side note, his sneezes would scare the crap out of the class if all was quiet when we were doing our work. You could actually hear his sneezes throughout the school.

He's now the principle for that school.

One teacher at my school, back in the 1960s caught a lad daydreaming so to wake him up, he ordered all the classroom windows to be opened. He then stood the miscreant on his desk right by the window so the icy january wind would blow in his face. it also meant that the rest of us were freezing cold for the rest of the lesson. Nobody ever dozed off in his class again.

Sounds like the teacher was just trying to get control of his class; and the girl wanted to make sure he didn't. The girl should be punished for that. Taking emergency workers away from potential 'real' emergencys.
